Bonte Mine
Formerly an alluvial gold mine at the northern end of the northeast trending Asankragwa-Manso-Nkwanta gold belt.
Bonte Gold Mining was granted what was the Esaase lease in 1990, however the company went into liquidation in 2002. The Bonte operations had resulted in large scale silting of the associated drainage systems of the deposit.
Sametro Company Ltd bought the lease and was in turn sold to Keegan Resources Inc. in 2008.
Neighbouring mine concessions include the Obuasi Project operated by Anglo Ashanti, and the Akyem Gold Project developed by Newmont mining.
