Frana del Thurnwieser, Valle Rin Maré (Valle Rio Maré), Val Zebrù, Valfurva, Sondrio, Lombardia, Italia
Huge landslide, which involved the south-east slope of Punta Thurwieser (3657 m) on September 18, 2004. The rockfall started from the summit of Punta Thurwieser and evolved in an impressive rock avalanche, which stopped in the valley floor at about 2200 m.
The rocks involved in the landslide belong to the Dolomia Principale Formation.
