Walter Smith (also known as Walter Purula, Walter Perrule, or Wati Yuritja) (02/07/1898-14/06/1990) was born on the Arltunga Goldfield to a Welsh miner, and indigenous woman called Topsy White. He was a Tennant Creek gold miner, prospector, gem fossicker, widely travelled cameleer, and spoke thirty languages. It is noted in 1971, that Smith was living in a camp, the precursor to Atitjere, where he collected gemstones for the tourist trade in Alice Springs, and acted as a guide to the mineral deposits in the Harts Range. His relationship (if any) to the prospect under this article is unknown.
Rare Earth prospect. The country rock is garnet rich, quartz-feldspar rich, biotite rich, Entia Gneiss. The lode is calc-silicate, with four rich pockets of samarskite and allanite disseminated through it. Sub-economic.
