Locality type:
Köppen climate type:
Adjoins the Victoria mine, but on a parallel reef to the west. A shaft had been sunk 20 feet in soft grey decomposed slate. At the bottom of the shaft was a small leader, very rich in gold. There was also a cutting to the north, but the stone was not as rich here. Another small shaft was to the south but it did not cut the reef.
When inspected in 1891, the lease contained a small plant, which was not working, and a dry dam. Gold was found in the mine thickly studding galena. The source states the galena itself does not seem to contain much gold or silver, most of the gold occurring freely in quartz or gossany veins. Rich alluvial patches were found on the surface.
