GML 261. 12 acres. Located north of the Western Hero lease. It was traversed by a well defined quartz reef, being the northern extension of the reef in the Western Hero. Accessed in the late 1890's by an open cut. The reef outcrops for 480 feet. Owned by J.G. Withnell and Dr. Hicks. The reef is 9 inches thick on the surface but widens at depth to 18 inches. One of the early leases from 1895, a shaft is noted at this time to only 20 feet, but the deepest on the field at this early stage. Smith and party are noted as crushing stone from the lease in 1898.
