Developed in 1895 following the discovery of two gold-bearing quartz reefs in host metasediment of the Neoproterozoic Emeroo Subgroup. Initial workings proved the reefs to be very rich, and a syndicate was formed to work them. Small crushings gave excellent results however, due to lack of finance the mine was not developed to any great depth, with several shafts excavated, the deepest to 24m. No production figures were determined. A main underlie shaft to 80ft, a vertical shaft to 40ft, with an adit to 20ft, and several small shafts are noted on the mine summary card.
