Natal is the southern most pit in the Mount Pleasant complex, and borders the road to Kudana on the east side. The pit was developed between December 2004 to April 2008. The base is Victorious Basalt, overlain by a sequence of felsic volcanics, with discontinuous bands of black shale. Overlaying this is a thick package of interbedded siltstone and shales. The black shale has high levels of arsenic.
