The Prince of Wales mine borders the south side of the Black Flag Road, where it briefly turns east-west before heading south again. The Coronation mine is immediately to the west, and is now a cleared area of several acres.
Pre 1971 the mine produced 184 Kt at 12.2 g/t yielding 72 400 ounces, but no further information was found. Between 1987 to 1992 the mine produced 570 Kt at 8.7 g/t yielding 159 435 ounces, mainly it appears from an underground operation. This stopped in 1992, when cyclonic rains flooded the workings, and made the headframe and winder unsafe.
Estimated resource remaining is 650 000 tonnes of ore at 8-12 g/t yielding 167-250 Koz of gold. The ore body is thin at 1 to 2 metres wide. It is a steeply dipping siliceous lode hosted within metabasalt.
Keras Resources PLC have a five year tribute agreement over the Grant's Patch area from Nortons Goldfields Limited. Keras have plans to recondition the shaft and conduct hand mining underground. The site also at present contains a shallow pit which access oxide material and a tailings heap immediately to the west.
