The Savannah Gold Mine was a historic lease, 2 kilometres north of Leonora, and just east of the Goldfields Highway. The site is marked by a couple of tiny modern exploration pits. The Great Boston, Johannesburg, and Grey leases were said to be nearby. Mining here was limited by the shallow depth of gold, low grades and disturbed nature of the country. The leases tended to have a small but rich shoot, and were abandoned after this was mined out.
Crushings were found by O'Brien and party in 1899, and the Keenan and party 1903-1904. Prospectors investigated the old claim again in 1907.
