Located 11.7 km (7.3 miles) NNW of the intersection of State Route 97 and Teanaway Road (10.5 km (6.5 miles) East of Cle Elum). The Middle Fork Teanaway is a freestone river flowing from the east slopes of the Cascade Mountains. The river basin contains a variety of geological features including volcanic, sedimentary, and metamorphic with the bulk of the materials probably volcanic. Access from the main road to barely explored collection sites is achieved by gravel mountain roads. A current map is recommended if side travel away from the main roads is anticipated. Several trailheads exist for those wishing to explore the mineralogy of the backcountry. There is ample camping in the basin with a developed campground available. The scenery can be spectacular.
