The Northern Star Reef is located 750 metres south-west of the Record Gold Mine. The reef extends in a north-south sinuous line for 5000 feet, as a northern extension of the Norseman quartz vein system. There is however a 5000 foot area of 'blank' country between the two reef systems.
The northern most lease on this reef line was the Last Chance GML 344, with a shaft to 40 feet deep. The lease was forfeited in August 1896.
Next to the south was Gypsy Girl GML 131, with two shafts, and a third shaft on a small cross-reef.
The Bohemian GML 124, had three shafts on a reef 3 feet wide. The deepest shaft was 60 feet. There was a quartz-porphyry dyke on the east side of the reef, following the same trend (north-south) as the reef.
Next south was the Sudden Norseman and Macedonian Gold Mining Company leases, which amalgamated as the Macedonian GML 139. The workings were is a state of disrepair when inspected in 1906. Five shafts were on the lease from 86 to 192 feet deep. Siderite was also found down the shafts. The lease was voided in August 1898. Further south was the Morning Star and Scandanavian leases, of which separate Mindat entries have been loaded.
