The Waratah Gold Mine is located east of Mt Deans, half way between Norseman and the former Dundas town site. The Edward's Norseman lease adjoined it to the south. Both are on the same line of lode.
The original prospectors, Root and party, had retained the lease through the late 1890's. A lot of prospecting work had been done by 1898, but little mining.
Close to the Edward's lease boundary, was a 60 foot deep shaft, on a reef 7 inches wide. The reef at this point split, one section at a 45 degree angle, and the other remaining flat.
Another 5 shafts are described ranging in depth from 40 feet to 400 feet deep.
