A large open pit developed by St Barbara Mines Ltd in the 1990's. The mine is between the Maranui and Romsey open pits. It was discovered late in the field's development in 1913, and several tonnages were processed until the end of 1914 by Kirkland and Hart (surnames). They also took over the nearby Hornsby battery in November 1914, which had been owned by the mines department . An initial crushing of 98 tonnes at the battery produced 61.72 ounces of gold, but no more activity was found until it converted from underground to open pit mining in the 1990's.
