Iron meteorite, octahedrite (unclassified iron)
Fall, 18 April 1926; 238 g
This small iron meteorite is one of several witnessed iron falls that are presently incompletely classified ('unclassified'). Kamacite and taenite are sufficiently abundant to allow Komagome's characterization as an octahedrite as expected its Fe-Ni metal ( 8%Ni) composition. Schreibersite and troilite are also reported by Shima (1965). Phosphates are apparently present as well.
Only 49 witnessed falls of iron meteorites had been reported by the end of 2014. Apparently competent translations would make additional mineralogical information about several of these rare meteorites available in a more publicly accessible format.
