A Mn occurrence/prospect located in the S center sec. 17, T25N, R12W, MDM, 2.0 km (6,700 feet) SE from Brush Mountain (coordinates of record). Owned by W. H. Dobbins, California (1974) and A.G. Trinkle and G.E. Purcell, California (1974). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a Mn deposit. The ore body is enclosed in thin-bedded red to gray chert, and is continuous for at least 75 feet. The ore body is cut off by a fault on its S end. The ore body is 12 feet wide at the N end. It is siliceous and consists of black oxide ore containing numerous cores of Fe-stained silica skeletons. The S part of the ore body is less siliceous. Local rocks include Franciscan Complex, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).
Analytical test results The ore grade is 15 to 28% Mn, 47 to 67% silica.
