The Mather mine orebody was accessed by two shafts, the Mather A, located within the city limits of Ishpeming, and the Mather B, located in Negaunee. Ore was originally shipped directly to the blast furnaces, but was later benficiated at the ore improvement plant and pelletized at the Pioneer pellet plant.
