This active quarry is operated by Bauval Inc., and is closed to collectors.
The following description is drawn from the Deposit File of the MRNF (Ministère des ressources naturelles et de la faune) :
The quarry is located in a band of impure limestone of the St-Germain Complex, enclosed in clayey schists.
The work is conducted in fine-grained, dark grey graphitous limestone, in beds 2 to 25cm thick, separated by thin black shale.
In the eastern part of the quarry, the 40m thick limestone bed is in contact with a greyish-black slate which alters to a brown color.
A few igneous dykes cut through the lithology in an East-West direction.
Pockets of calcite up to 8 meter long have been found, and calcite and quartz crystals came out of this locality.
