Quarry situated not far from the Chanxhe quarry (http://www.mindat.org/loc-105908.html)
Traces of the former (possibly the earliest) presence of early humans in Belgium (likely homo heidelbergensis) were found in the "Grotte de Belle-Roche" which was discovered in 1980 during work in the quarry. Recovered stone tools were dated with 3 different techniques to around 500,000 years old (+ or - 70,000 years).
