This is one of a group of closely spaced zinc-lead workings (Kroll Mine, old St. Anthony Mine, and Hornswaggle Diggings) that tapped the same or closely spaced ore bodies. The old St. Anthony Mine operated before 1877. Ore was mostly in the Ordovician carbonate rocks of the Decorah Formation.
