This relatively large zinc-lead mine worked first in 1906 on the site of previous shallow lead "diggings" and continued operation until 1917. 1then was reopened from 1945 to 1949. Ore was mostly in deformed and brecciated pitch and flat structures in the Ordovician carbonate rocks of the Decorah Formation.
