Fibrous Malachite crystals in Quartz. There is a light frosting of silica on the Malachite crystals, making this a really aesthetic specimen of Malachite from this interesting mine.
Yes, I think the colour is a bit off the normal Paratoo Malachite greens because of the light frosting of silica in the Malachite fibres. The original uploaded macro-photo is a good colour rendition of that shade of green, with good white balance. The small specs of gossan (weathered Magnetite) are a darker brown, and not the pastel orange. I will endeavour to upload some addition photos of the same specimen.
I zoomed in on this one, because it was a little unusual, with that light frosting covering the Malachite fibres.
Thanking you for your interest and feedback - and compliment on the huge collection mineral photographs - truly inspirational.
Yours faithfully,
Leon Allen
W8E-XEQErythrite Co3(AsO4)2·8H2O , Magnetite Fe2+Fe3+2O4
Biggenden Mine, Mount Biggenden, North Burnett Region, Queensland, AustraliaDimensions: 5.6 mm x 3.3 mm x 3.5 mm

Red Erythrite with Black Magnetite and minor dark green Actinolite.
Purchased from, and identified by personnel at the Biggenden quarry site. Photographed by myself.
This is very typical of Erythrite from Biggenden. I purchased 2 pieces - this is a macro photo of the smaller piece.
Both specimens have similar 'spotting's' of Erythrite. The Biggenden Erythrite is typically small like this.
There are at present no photo's of Biggenden Erythrite. This photo is a good (the best availiable) illustration of what this mineral from this location looks like.
