| Abstract/Notes | Studies on the composition of glacial till around the Mt. Pleasant Mo-W-Bi-Cu-Sn-Zn mineralization show that the host rock at Mt. Pleasant, which can be regarded as a point source, can be detected by pebble counts in the till 7 km down-ice from Mt. Pleasant. Analysis of various size fractions of glacial till demonstrate that glacial transport can, in some situations, actually be an advantage in the use of exploration geochemical techniques. Whereas dispersion trains of Cu, Pb, and Zn in the fine fractions of till can be traced for only 2 to 5 km from the mineralized source, they extend for more than 16 km in the coarse fraction of the till. Analysis of the coarse fraction of glacial till is clearly a potentially powerful reconnaissance-scale exploration technique. |
