The locality card on the sample is probably correct and should be placed in the Tory Hill "basket". Tremolite is not uncommon in many areas of the Bancroft Region. The light colour of this sample is a little unusual. The Tremolite in the Bancroft Region is generally darker green and closer in colour to the inserted sample.

Light coloured tremolite like this specimen is common in the Cardiff area west of Bancroft. Recent road widening just west of Cardiff on Highway 28 at Dyno Road has exposed similar looking material.

I agree. The locality card attached to the sample indicates it is older but still from the Cardiff area.

Hi Holger:

The second one is in my collection; I collected it myself from the outcrop at Miners Bay. Back in the 1960's and 1970's these would have been called actinolite but chemical analyses has shown that most are close to tremolite with the iron content being a strong colouring agent. The colourless tremolite samples were quite a bit rarer if memory serves.
