Silver from
State of Maine Mine, Tombstone Mining District, Cochise County, Arizona, USA

Locality type:Mine
Classification
Species:Silver
Formula:Ag
Comments:Note from Rolf Luetcke, 2019 - "When we ran our shop years ago the man who made the silver specimens from Tombstone lived in St. David and his name was Fred Libby. He stopped by our store and had a bunch of the silver specimens for sale. He said they were Tombstone silver. I looked and immediately said they looked lab grown to me. Since Mary knew the family he told me that in fact he was growing those at his place. I asked and he said all he said to people was that it was Tombstone silver since the ores he got to make the silver from did come from Tombstone but all were lab grown.
It was only a few years he was selling those and I am sure he went all over the area selling to rock shops and telling people that it was Tombstone silver."
