Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Knoxville Formation, the Kings-Kaweah Ophiolite, dunite (Late Cretaceous to Late Jurassic). The ore body is lenticular. Alteration is local and involves partial to complete serpentinization of host rocks. This group is at the S end of the Beegum Creek body, an irregularly exposed ultramafic belt that trends NW from Little Red Mountain into Trinity County. The exposed ultramfic rock is 3 to 4 km wide in the vicinity of Little Red Mountain. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Production data are found in: Wells, F.G. and Hawkes, H.E. (1965): 160.
