A Cr-PGE (Pd-Pt-Ir-Rh-Ru) occurrence/prospect located 4.2 km (2.6 miles) ESE of Red Mountain (coordinates of record), on the divide between Peach Tree Creek and Del Puerto Canyon. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. No information found other than PGE analysis in Carlson et al (1985).
Mineralization is a Late Jurassic Cr-PGE deposit (Deposit model: 15: Podiform chromite (minor)), hosted in dunite. Controls for ore emplacement
included magmatic segregation. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Associated rocks include the Coast Range (Del Puerto) Ophiolite (Late Jurassic peridotite).
Analytical data results: 2 PGE analyses: Pt = 11, 47 ppb; Pd = 1, 4 ppb; Ir = 33, 300 ppb; Ru = <100, 490 ppb; and, Rh = 6, 39 ppb.
