A former Cr-Fe mine located in sec. 15, T6S, R5E, MDM, 8.2 km (5.1 miles) W of Copper Mountain, along Del Puerto Canyon, just downstream from its confluence with Adobe Canyon, on private land (fee ownership). Owned by Larry Higuera (100.00%), California (1976). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in the Coast Range (Del Puerto) Ophiolite (dunite). The ore body strikes E-W at a thickness of 1 meter, width of 30 meters and a length of 200 meters. The ore bodies are disseminated-lenticular, fissure vein-irregular and tabular. The primary mode of origin was magmatic differentiation. Primary ore control was lithology. There is intense wallrock alteration. Local rocks include Ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Assay data: ore ran 53% chromite and 30.7% Cr2O3. Concentrate ran 57.62% Cr2O3, 16.36% Fe, with a Cr:Fe of 2.0.
