A former Hg occurrence/mine located in the NE¼NE¼SW¼ sec. 33, T8S, R1E, MDM, about 4.4 km WNW of New Almaden (2 miles NW of Mine Hill), on county land (Almaden Quicksilver County Park). Discovered prior to 1859. Produced during the period 1859 to 1863. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. One of the "outside" New Almaden Mines.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Franciscan Complex (Late Cretaceous serpentinite). The ore body is irregular in form at a width of 12.19 meters and a length of 167.64 meters. Controls for ore emplacement include an anticlinal crest. Local alteration includes the silica carbonate alteration of serpentine. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan Complex, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).
Local geologic structures include a local anticline.
Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings with a length of 2,743.2 meters (the topo map reflects 1 shaft symbol labeled as this mine).
