A former lode Au-Fe occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ sec. 17 & in sec. 20, T15N, R11E, SBM, 4.5 km (2.8 miles) WSW of Yucca Grove, about 5.5 km ENE of Halloran Springs, 4.9 km (3.1 miles) S of Solomons Knob (summit) (coordinates of record), and S of Negro Head (summit), along the S side of Interstate highway 15. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Located on the slope of a ridge SW of a lava flow. The most northerly claims are covered by basalt. The property is comprised of 35 claims (7 claims long by 5 claims wide), with 10,500 feet on the lode. Probably a part of the Telegraph Mine holdings.
Mineralization is hosted in basalt and granite. The ore body strikes N30-50E and dips 70SE at a thickness of 1.83 meters. 3 parallel veins occur at 3 to 6 feet thick. A series of parallel aplite dikes, that strike NE, occur on this group of claims. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface openings comprised of a 30 foot shaft. Other claims were prospected with shallow open cuts and prospect shafts.
