A B(borate) occurrence located in sec. 13, T11N, R7W, SBM, 3.8 km (2.4 miles) SW of Red Buttes (coordinates of record). Discovered in 1958. Discovered and owned by Sunray Mid-Continent Oil Company. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. This deposit is small and very low-grade.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Tropico Group (lake sediments and shale). Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Analytical data results: Colemanite-bearing shale contains about 3.7% B2O3.
