A former Cu-Zn-Au-Ag-Pb occurrence/mine located in sec. 19, T15N, R14E, and in sec. 30, T15N, R15E, SBM, about 5.5 km NNW of Kessler Peak, along the western margin of a western spur of the Ivanpah Range (7 air miles SE of Mountain Pass), on federal reservation land (Mojave National Preserve/East Mojave National Scenic Area). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in the Goodsprings dolomite. Mineralization is associated in part with alteration zones near basic dikes in brecciated parts of the dolomite. The Goodsprings dolomite strikes NW and dips 40-60SW. Local rocks include Devonian marine rocks, unit 1 (Death Valley).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 1,524 meters and an overall depth of 83.82 meters. There are numerous tunnels and shafts. The main shaft on the Standard No. 2 is inclined 80 degrees westward, penetrating the brecciated zone and said to be 275 feet deep.
Production data are found in: Goodwin, Joseph Grant (1957).
Cu-Ag-Au ore was shipped during the periods 1917 to 1919 and 1934-1935. Ore shipped in 1934 also contained Pb. Smelter recovery was shown to be 11.3% Pb, 1.36% Cu, 10 ounces Ag/ton plus some Au. The Cu ore shipped earlier averaged 12% Cu, 10.2 ounces Ag and 0.24 ounce Au/ton.
