A former lode Au-Cu-Pb occurrence/mine located in the SE¼NW¼ sec. 2 & in sec. 3, T3N, R2W, SBM, 3.4 km (2.1 miles) NE of Rattlesnake Mountain (coordinates of record) (1.5 miles N of Horse Spring Camp). The property is comprised of 12 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite and diorite. The ore body is pinch & swell in form, strikes N20W, N and dips 25W, 50-70W at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Ore occurs between diorite dikes and granite. The vein soccur along the dikes, about 500 feet apart and are 6 inches (15 cm) to 4 feet (1.22 meters) thick and can be traced along surface outcrops for about 6,000 feet. Strikes and dips given are for the West and East veins, respectively. As a rule, when the veins pinch to a thickness of 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 cm), the Au values increase. The footwalls are diorite and the hanging walls are granite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings. There are several thousand feet of underground workings including shafts, inclines, drifts, and several adits. Drifts were driven on the 40 and 65 foot levels. North of the shaft, a tunnel was driven S on the vein for 40 feet. The vein was stoped for 20 feet to a depth of 10 feet 500 feet N of the shaft. Another tunnel was driven N 150 feet with 50 feet of backs. The ore was stoped to surface for a length of 50 feet. 500 feet N of these workings a tunnel was driven S for 200 feet. An ore shoot 100 feet long and 2 feet thick was stoped to surface for 60 feet. There are 100 foot and 150 foot winzes sunk in the tunnel.
