A clay occurrence located in sec. 21, T6S, R9E, SBM, on the western slope of the Mecca Hills, E of 57th Avenue, Coachella (city) (Coachella Valley) and 6 miles N of Mecca (Coachella Valley), E of the Coachella Canal, on private (patented) land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a sedimentary clay deposit hosted in conglomerate and Pliocene sandstone. The ore body is 609.6 meters thick and 2,413.95 meters long. Soft, poorly consolidated conglomerate, sand and clay occur with small amounts of gypsum and saline minerals. The clay occurs between 2 belts of sandstone and conglomerate. Local rocks include Plio-Pleistocene and Pliocene loosely consolidated deposits.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of tunnels and open cuts.
