A former alleged talc/soapstone mine (actually sericite) located in sec. 33, T3S, R33E, MDM, 6.7 km (4.2 miles) SSW of Indian Peak (coordinates of record), on the divide between Tree Creek and Jeffrey Mine Canyon, on National Forest land (located claim). Owned by Standard Industrial Minerals, Inc., Reno, Nevada (1981). Operated by Huntley Industrial Minerals, Inc. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is a replacement deposit hosted in schist. The ore body is lenticular in shape, strikes NW and dips SW. Pyrophyllite schist in silicified zones in pre-Cretaceous volcanic and sedimentary rocks. The commodity is assertively stated as being sericite, not talc per the MRDS database (file #10188972). Alteration is local (silicification). Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 3 (Mojave Desert, Death Valley area, and Eastern Sierra Nevada) and/or pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings. The surface workings are 45.72 meters wide.
This deposit extends several hundred feet.
