A W occurrence/group of claims located in thye S½ (?) sec. 8, T3S, R20E, MDM, 0.4 km (1,200 feet) WNW of Eagle Peak (coordinates of record) (½ mile W of El Portal in the canyon running S from Eagle Peak), on National Forest land. Operated by the Sierraposa Mining Co. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
The Garnet Queen and the Garnet King (one of this group ?) were being prospected in 1954. Some ore was mined in 1956, milled in 1957, and sold to the GSA.
