A pumice occurrence located in the center of sec. 28, T11S, R13E, SBM, on the Salton Sea 1.6 km (1.0 mile) ENE of Obsidian Butte (coordinates of record), along the SE shore of the Salton Sea (7 miles SW of Niland). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. Used as lightweight aggregate.
The deposit is on a small volcanic dome of pumice and scoria. Local rocks include recent (Holocene) volcanic flow units, unit 5 (Salton Sea) and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include surface openings comprised of a bench cut 150 feet long, 30 feet high and 100 feet wide.
