Illinois; Lion County

Official name: Admire
Synonyms: Illinois; Lion County.
Observed fall: no
Found: 1881
Coordinates (Catalogue of Meteorites): 38°42' N, 96°6' W
Recovered weight: 180 kg
Pallasite, Main Group

A mass was plowed up in 1881 and other masses later. Olivine (forsterite) composition (Fa12.1), Ni content of Fe-Ni metal(~11 wt%), and 17O value (-0.32) are typical of main group pallasites.

29 kg was with the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, 15 kg with the U.S. National Museum, and smaller masses elsewhere.
