A former U-V occurrence/mine located in approximate secs. 34 & 35, T39N, R29E, and sec. 2 & 3, T38N, R29E, G&SRM, 6.1 km (3.8 miles) S of Red Valley (town) and 4.7 miles E of Black Rock. T&R values are not presented for this location.
Mineralization is tyuyamunite in irregular tabular layers hosted in Late Jurassic claystone, siltstone and sandstone of the Salt Wash Member of the Morrison Formation. Ore is found in clusters, usually associated with carbonaceous detritus. Tyuyamunite occurs in the lower part of the Salt Wash Member, adjacent to a diorite porphyry intrusive. Local rocks include rocks of the San Rafael Group.
Workings include surface and underground openings including a 300 x 30 x 20 foot deep rim cut and an adit with 134 feet of underground workings, plus 7 drill holes.
Production was 254 tons of ore @ 0.16% U3O8; 2.66% V2O5 (1950-1953).
