A sedimentary Fe-Mn-silica-phosphates deposit located in the center sec. 12, T8N, R15½E, G&SRM, 4.8 km (3.0 miles) SSE of Chediski Farms (Marley Ranch), on the East side of Oak Creek Valley, 1.2 miles SE of Oak Creek Ranch.
Mineralization is an Fe deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 241; USGS model code: 34a; BC deposit profile: F10; Deposit model name: Superior Fe [BC name is Lake Superior & Rapitan types iron-formation]) hosted in Neoproterozoic shale, sandstone and chert of the the Mescal Limestone, beneath the Chediski sandstone. The ore body is irregular masses, strikes N30E and dips 30SE. Here the Chediski has been metamorphosed to quartzite by the nearby intrusion of diabase. Local rocks include Middle Proterozoic diabase.
Analytical data results: The best ore ranges from 50 to 65% metallic Fe, 4.5 to 26.5% silica, and 0.12-0.40% P.
