About 1.2 miles northwest of the village of Lake Louise, Canadian highway 1 turns west and crosses the Continual Divide into British Columbia. Highway 93, the Icefields Parkway, continues northwest following the Continual Divide into Jasper National Park. This makes the 179 miles journey from Banff to Jasper one of the most beautiful drives on the North American Continent. There are abundant trails that provide a text book of geology including glacial geology. Crowfoot Glacier is about 20 miles northwest of Lake Louise.
