The Loskop project is across farms Rietfontein 70 JS, Kameeldoorn 71 JS, De Wagendrift 79 JS and Loskop Suid 53 JS. Total area of the Loskop Project is 5,659 hectares.
Locally, the Critical Zone rocks as well as some of the floor rocks of the Transvaal Supergroup underlie the Loskop Project area. The general dip of the rocks is between 20° and 40° towards the south-southeast. Later syenite and alkali intrusives have been recorded in the area.
The Critical Zone horizon of the Bushveld Complex in the Loskop Project area contains three PGM-bearing reefs. These are the UMP, which may be correlated with the Merensky Reef; the Platchro reef, a chromite enriched layer which is analogous both in composition and in stratigraphic position to the UG2 Chromitite Layer horizon of the eastern Bushveld; and the LMP, a broader, lower grade zone of mineralization that may be correlated with the Platreef style of mineralization in the northern limb.
