The Titanium Placer claim was located in 1949 by Mark Foster, a local opal prospector/miner, just adjacent to the Old McGee Ranch at the Warm Springs on what is now the Virgin Valley Campground, as a homestead and work/living quarters for the old Lemac Stone Quarry on the north side of Virgin Valley. The Titanium claim was sold to Keith Hodson in the late 1940's or early 1950's who made improvements. The claim became invalid in 1987 and Hodson then relocated it as the "Titanium Two" placer in 1989, being assigned BLM NMC#569783. No valuable mineral deposit exists on the property, it is completely non-mineral ground. For many years local Sheldon NWR USFWS ranger Dale Fink lived on the property through the 1990's. Keith Hodson subsequently deeded the property to the Finks, who in turn deeded the property to Hodson's son, Glen Hodson, who currently operates the nearby Rainbow Ridge Opal Mine about 4 or 5 miles to the south. The old buildings are in disrepair and essentially abandoned, although the claim is still active in BLM records (10/2020).
