A former small surface and underground Ag-Au-Mn mine located in South-central sec. 9 & North-central sec. 16, T.20S., R.22E, about 500 feet S of Merrimac adits, approximately 2 miles SW of Tombstone. First produced 1920.
Mineralization is a replacement deposit of oxidized and enriched, weak and spotty, gold and silver ores along a fault fissure in Laramide Uncle Sam quartz-latite porphyry. Operators included Free Coinage Lease, G.E. Vaughn, and, Tom Brandt.
Workings are shallow openings, 2 shafts and surface workings. About 500 tons of ore were produced intermittently since the 1890's, mainly in the period 1920-1922. ABGMT-USBM production figures include at least some data from the Merrimac Mine to the north.
