An U-V occurrence located in sec. 4, T17N, R23E, G&SRM, about 16.3 km (10.1 miles) ESE of Sun Valley and 11.3 km (7.0 miles) SW of Adamana (Apache County), on National Park Service land (Petrified Forest National Park). The geographic coordinates presented are for the center of sec. 4. This locality is not listed in the USGS MRDS database. NOTE: Collecting on National Park land is strictly prohibited.
Mineralization is carnotite in the upper part of the Sonsela sandstone in
the Petrified Forest Member of the Chinle Formation.
Workings include surface openings comprised of rim strippings.
Production was 14 tons @0.10% U3O8; 0.21% V2O5, and 3.4% CaCO3 (1957). This are may have come from stockpiles on the Bill Gill Lease on adjacent Section 33.
