This location needs confirmation. It is based on oral accounts.
Crystals are said to be found, purple to colourless to smoky, 5 to 20 mm. Requires digging and sieving. Another oral source states in the 1980s there were many loose crystals to 3 cm in length.
The site is in the Ilparpa area, a satellite community south-west of Alice Springs. Go 6 kilometres south along the main highway from Alice Springs, turning right onto the Ilparpa Road, almost opposite the Old Timers Museum.
The site is 4.6 kilometres on the lower scree slopes. The diggings can be seen from the road apparently. It is assumed this means the Temple Bar Ridge, which borders the southern side of the road. The distance would place the site close to the residential area of Ilparpa, so the deposit's present status is unclear. Likely spots can also be seen about 1.5 and 2 kilometres from the turn-off, but requires confirmation. The Mindat map shows the Ilparpa settlement only.
