Locality type:
45-km-diameter crater, ca. 300 km north of Coprates Chasma; clay-rich deposits; dominant minerals are phyllosicilates and mafic species. Hydrothermal reworking during impact cratering is suggested for the area.
Star dunes of central pit (Central Uplift) contain hydrated silica, likely close to opal-A, being more mature than the lower-hydrated silica of an outcropping bedrock (just 4 km away), likely close to opal-CT/C.
