Located on the southern border of the department, by the Rio Grande de San Juan.
The Chusmimayo mine in Argentina is located in the province of Jujuy, in the northern part of the country, 1,600 km northwest of Buenos Aires, the country's capital. It is located at 3,633 meters above sea level.
The land around Chusmimayo is mostly hilly, but to the southeast it is flat. Chusmimayo is located in a valley. The highest point in the area is the Cerro Lagunita Colorada, 4,303 meters above sea level, 5.0 km northwest of Chusmimayo.
