This mine, consisted of altered magnesium-rich metasediment within a Palaeoproterozoic feldspathic gneiss host. The talc was dark green, fine grained, capable of taking a high polish, and suitable for carving. The high iron content made it unsuitable for industrial use. An estimated resource was 40,000 tonnes. Shallow open cut workings produced an estimated 23 tonnes from 1981-89.
This site should not be confused with the Cowell Jade Province Outcrops 1 - 110, which are sometimes referred to as The Mount Geharty Jade Mines, even though this name was never officially used.
