At the intersection with the Sierra Leone fracture zone, the rift valley consists of two branches that are separated by Leonov mountain (minimum depth: 1902 m). The area mainly consists of serpentinized and amphibolized mantle ultramafic rocks that are disseminated by carbonate veins, and minor breccias with ultramafic clasts.
