In 2005 over 100 specimens of clear quartz crystals with inclusions of fluorite were found in Madagascar. The exact locality is not known. Koivula et al. (2005) refers to a locality in the Miandrivazo area in the western coast as the provenance of the fluorite in quartz. But later Hyrsl & Niedermayer (2007) states that the fluorite in quartz specimens was found nearby in an elbaite and beryl-bearing pegmatite "near" Amborompotsy, a market place and a commune center in the central highland of Madagascar.
